Korkut ata is the ancestor of kobyz, storyteller, musician, composer. According to legend, Korkut came from the Syrdarya steppes and lived in the 8th-9th centuries. In 1980, the Korkut ata memorial complex was established in Kyzylorda. Officially listed by UNESCO as a cultural heritage site and has been under state protection since November 28, 2018.
